Days after she was fired as Yahoo’s chief executive, Carol A. Bartz has resigned her seat on the Internet company’s board, according to a spokesman for the directors.

The spokesman, Charles Sipkins, said in a statement: “On September 9, 2011, Carol Bartz resigned from the board of directors of Yahoo! Inc. effective immediately.”

The decision by Ms. Bartz on Friday followed the decision by Yahoo’s board to fire her amid the ongoing struggles to find a new direction for a company that has been eclipsed in the Internet space on a variety of fronts.

Ms. Bartz’s departure from the board followed a blunt interview that she gave to Fortune the day after she was fired, in which — true to her reputation — she used profanity and called Yahoo’s directors “doofuses.”
